Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Information Technology, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Construction & Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.51% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH), which rose 13.20% or 39.60 points to trade at 339.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) added 10.00% or 0.100 points to end at 1.100 and Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML) was up 9.52% or 2.40 points to 27.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ACL Cables PLC (CM:ACL), which fell 50.00% or 57.50 points to trade at 57.50 at the close. Capital Alliance Finance PLC (CM:CAFL) declined 18.75% or 2.10 points to end at 9.10 and Colombo Fort Investments PLC (CM:CFI) was down 11.66% or 9.90 points to 75.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 111 to 58 and 48 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.29% or 0.14 to $49.13 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.38% or 0.19 to hit $50.54 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.04% or 13.95 to trade at $1352.95 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.12% to 193.795, while USD/LKR rose 0.05% to 145.885.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 95.72.
