Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Power & Energy, Plantations and Construction & Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ), which rose 17.80% or 6.80 points to trade at 45.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bimputh Finance PLC (CM:BIMP) added 17.65% or 9.00 points to end at 60.00 and Standard Capital PLC (CM:SING) was up 16.67% or 15.00 points to 105.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ceylon Beverage Holdings PLC (CM:BREW), which fell 16.38% or 95.00 points to trade at 485.00 at the close. Chilaw Finance PLC (CM:CHIL) declined 15.58% or 3.10 points to end at 16.80 and Bogawantalawa Tea Estates PLC (CM:BOPL) was down 9.35% or 1.00 points to 9.70.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 104 to 66 and 48 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ceylon Beverage Holdings PLC (CM:BREW) fell to 52-week lows; falling 16.38% or 95.00 to 485.00. Shares in Standard Capital PLC (CM:SING) rose to 3-years highs; up 16.67% or 15.00 to 105.00.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.43% or 0.17 to $39.63 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.07% or 0.03 to hit $41.06 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.42% or 5.10 to trade at $1218.40 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.12% to 207.630, while USD/LKR rose 0.02% to 146.885.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 96.29.
