Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Investment Trust and Land & Property sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.35% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 14.29% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.8000 at the close. Meanwhile, Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH) added 10.04% or 30.10 points to end at 330.00 and Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML) was up 9.84% or 2.50 points to 27.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chilaw Finance PLC (CM:CHIL), which fell 17.33% or 3.90 points to trade at 18.60 at the close. Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC (CM:CTC) declined 8.41% or 92.40 points to end at 1006.50 and F L C Holdings PLC (CM:FREE) was down 7.69% or 0.100 points to 1.200.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 82 to 64 and 54 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.55% or 0.76 to $49.89 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.84% or 0.92 to hit $50.80 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.67% or 8.55 to trade at $1261.45 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.56% to 216.965, while USD/LKR fell 0.27% to 146.600.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.80% at 93.06.
