Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Investment Trust, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Footwear & Textile sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (CM:KVAL), which rose 21.77% or 10.60 points to trade at 59.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Tangerine Beach Hotels PLC (CM:TANG) added 16.09% or 8.30 points to end at 59.90 and Royal Palms Beach Hotels PLC (CM:RPBH) was up 14.47% or 3.40 points to 26.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ceylon Leather Products PLC (CM:CLPL), which fell 13.57% or 9.50 points to trade at 60.50 at the close. Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) declined 12.33% or 148.00 points to end at 1052.00 and Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) was down 11.11% or 0.100 points to 0.800.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 99 to 66 and 43 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) fell to 3-years lows; down 12.33% or 148.00 to 1052.00. Shares in Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) fell to 5-year lows; losing 11.11% or 0.100 to 0.800.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.19% or 0.10 to $53.16 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.53% or 0.29 to hit $55.21 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.67% or 7.65 to trade at $1135.05 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.01% to 185.115, while USD/LKR rose 0.30% to 149.510.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 103.34.
