Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Trading, Diversified Holdings and Power & Energy sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Hapugastenne Plantations PLC (CM:HAPU), which rose 24.54% or 4.00 points to trade at 20.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ) added 23.04% or 8.80 points to end at 47.00 and Horana Plantations PLC (CM:HOPL) was up 21.21% or 3.50 points to 20.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO), which fell 24.43% or 635.10 points to trade at 1965.00 at the close. Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) declined 14.18% or 214.90 points to end at 1300.10 and Carson Cumberbatch PLC (CM:CARS) was down 10.87% or 31.70 points to 260.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 92 to 69 and 51 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.21% or 0.50 to $40.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.08% or 0.45 to hit $41.34 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.11% or 13.90 to trade at $1234.70 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.05% to 206.625, while USD/LKR rose 0.30% to 145.790.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 95.91.
