Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Information Technology, Diversified Holdings and Investment Trust sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.24%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Singer Industries PLC (CM:SINI), which rose 19.59% or 28.50 points to trade at 174.00 at the close. Meanwhile, SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) added 16.67% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.7000 and Ceylon Tea Services PLC (CM:CTEA) was up 13.84% or 84.50 points to 695.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kelsey Developments PLC (CM:KDL), which fell 10.55% or 5.80 points to trade at 49.20 at the close. Lankem Developments PLC (CM:LDEV) declined 8.11% or 0.300 points to end at 3.400 and Capital Alliance Finance PLC (CM:CAFL) was down 7.96% or 0.90 points to 10.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 86 to 77 and 51 ended unchanged.
Shares in Lankem Developments PLC (CM:LDEV) fell to 5-year lows; down 8.11% or 0.300 to 3.400.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.45% or 0.76 to $53.13 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.25% or 0.70 to hit $56.56 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.68% or 20.15 to trade at $1216.35 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.60% to 181.680, while USD/LKR fell 0.11% to 149.800.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.64% at 100.88.
