Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Information Technology, Footwear & Textile and Investment Trust sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.21% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Muller & Phipps PLC (CM:MULL), which rose 9.09% or 0.100 points to trade at 1.200 at the close. Meanwhile, Browns Investments PLC (CM:BROW) added 7.69% or 0.100 points to end at 1.400 and George Steuart Finance Ltd (CM:GEOR) was up 6.62% or 1.80 points to 29.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC (CM:SWAD), which fell 22.22% or 3000.000 points to trade at 10500.000 at the close. SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) declined 14.29% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.6000 and Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO) was down 13.35% or 115.60 points to 750.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 102 to 51 and 48 ended unchanged.
Shares in SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) fell to 5-year lows; down 14.29% or 0.1000 to 0.6000. Shares in Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO) fell to 5-year lows; down 13.35% or 115.60 to 750.00.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.17% or 0.08 to $45.98 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.19% or 0.09 to hit $48.15 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.90% or 10.60 to trade at $1189.00 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.18% to 184.550, while USD/LKR fell 0.57% to 147.685.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.33% at 101.15.
