Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Investment Trust and Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.19% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM), which rose 33.33% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.400 at the close. Meanwhile, Agalawatte Plantations PLC (CM:AGAL) added 14.84% or 2.70 points to end at 20.90 and Colombo Investment Trust PLC (CM:CIT) was up 13.14% or 11.60 points to 99.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Good Hope PLC (CM:GOOD), which fell 22.58% or 350.00 points to trade at 1200.00 at the close. Mercantile Shipping Company PLC (CM:MSL) declined 13.98% or 8.40 points to end at 51.70 and Muller & Phipps PLC (CM:MULL) was down 9.09% or 0.100 points to 1.000.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 84 to 69 and 67 ended unchanged.
Shares in Muller & Phipps PLC (CM:MULL) fell to 5-year lows; falling 9.09% or 0.100 to 1.000.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.91% or 0.53 to $57.58 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.77% or 0.49 to hit $62.89 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.10% or 1.28 to trade at $1293.12 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.09% to 204.600, while USD/LKR rose 0.12% to 153.790.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 93.02.
