Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Investment Trust, Plantations and Construction & Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM), which rose 50.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.300 at the close. Meanwhile, Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE) added 14.29% or 0.100 points to end at 0.800 and Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) was up 12.50% or 0.100 points to 0.900 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kelani Valley Plantations PLC (CM:KVAL), which fell 16.49% or 13.80 points to trade at 69.90 at the close. People’s Merchant Finance PLC (CM:PMB) declined 13.95% or 1.80 points to end at 11.10 and Bansei Royal Resorts Hikkaduwa Limited (CM:BANS) was down 13.33% or 0.80 points to 5.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 80 to 79 and 71 ended unchanged.
Shares in People’s Merchant Finance PLC (CM:PMB) fell to 52-week lows; falling 13.95% or 1.80 to 11.10. Shares in Bansei Royal Resorts Hikkaduwa Limited (CM:BANS) fell to all time lows; losing 13.33% or 0.80 to 5.20.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.46% or 0.30 to $65.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.20% or 0.15 to hit $75.53 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.28% or 3.70 to trade at $1298.50 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.67% to 213.120, while USD/LKR rose 0.16% to 158.720.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 93.62.
