Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Trading, Motors and Information Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 20.00% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.6000 at the close. Meanwhile, Agalawatte Plantations PLC (CM:AGAL) added 16.57% or 3.00 points to end at 21.10 and Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL) was up 15.83% or 273.30 points to 1999.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL), which fell 14.29% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.600 at the close. Swarnamahal Financial Services PLC (CM:SWAR) declined 12.50% or 0.100 points to end at 0.700 and Renuka Holdings PLC (CM:RHL) was down 10.64% or 2.50 points to 21.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 85 to 57 and 64 ended unchanged.
Shares in Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) fell to 5-year lows; down 14.29% or 0.100 to 0.600.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.50% or 0.32 to $63.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.71% or 0.49 to hit $68.66 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.10% or 1.30 to trade at $1338.40 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.18% to 212.375, while USD/LKR rose 0.01% to 153.940.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 90.38.
