Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Construction & Engineering and Power & Energy sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.07% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Horana Plantations PLC (CM:HOPL), which rose 9.25% or 1.60 points to trade at 18.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Softlogic Life Insurance PLC (CM:SFTL) added 9.00% or 1.80 points to end at 21.80 and Beruwala Resorts PLC (CM:BERU) was up 8.33% or 0.100 points to 1.300 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lankem Ceylon PLC (CM:LCEY), which fell 10.43% or 7.30 points to trade at 62.70 at the close. Hemas Power PLC (CM:HPWR) declined 9.57% or 2.20 points to end at 20.80 and City Housing and Real Estate Company PLC (CM:CHOU) was down 8.05% or 0.70 points to 8.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 89 to 53 and 57 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.33% or 0.15 to $45.72 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.47% or 0.22 to hit $46.85 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.45% or 5.45 to trade at $1229.35 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 1.42% to 186.780, while USD/LKR rose 1.16% to 149.740.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 100.11.
