Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Footwear & Textile, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Construction & Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Talawakelle Tea Estate PLC (CM:TPL), which rose 10.31% or 3.30 points to trade at 35.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Property Development PLC (CM:PDL) added 7.15% or 6.00 points to end at 89.90 and Browns Investments PLC (CM:BROW) was up 7.14% or 0.100 points to 1.500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which fell 12.50% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.7000 at the close. Kandy Hotels Company (1938) PLC (CM:KHC) declined 8.86% or 0.70 points to end at 7.20 and Hikkaduwa Beach Resort Ltd (CM:CITH) was down 6.45% or 1.00 points to 14.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 91 to 78 and 53 ended unchanged.
Shares in Browns Investments PLC (CM:BROW) rose to 52-week highs; rising 7.14% or 0.100 to 1.500.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.01% or 0.51 to $50.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.62% or 0.32 to hit $52.35 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.24% or 3.05 to trade at $1254.55 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.09% to 179.345, while USD/LKR fell 0.15% to 146.690.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.30% at 97.82.
