Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Information Technology, Palm Oil and Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.01% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH), which rose 20.42% or 59.00 points to trade at 348.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO) added 18.19% or 361.60 points to end at 2350.00 and SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) was up 14.29% or 0.1000 points to 0.8000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO), which fell 19.27% or 288.90 points to trade at 1210.00 at the close. Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML) declined 9.09% or 2.80 points to end at 28.00 and John Keells Hotels PLC (CM:KHL) was down 6.25% or 0.80 points to 12.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 88 to 73 and 65 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.99% or 0.48 to $49.10 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.95% or 0.47 to hit $50.11 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.45 to trade at $1243.35 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 2.80% to 208.425, while USD/LKR fell 2.02% to 144.700.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.37% at 94.25.
