Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Land & Property, Trading and Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 1.45% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC (CM:DIST), which rose 18.75% or 45.00 points to trade at 285.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO) added 16.64% or 9.70 points to end at 68.00 and Royal Palms Beach Hotels PLC (CM:RPBH) was up 15.38% or 4.40 points to 33.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kahawatte Plantations PLC (CM:KAHA), which fell 11.88% or 4.10 points to trade at 30.40 at the close. Browns Investments PLC (CM:BROW) declined 7.14% or 0.100 points to end at 1.300 and People’s Merchant Finance PLC (CM:PMB) was down 6.67% or 1.50 points to 21.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 151 to 45 and 40 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.32% or 0.53 to $40.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.59% or 0.67 to hit $42.81 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.38% or 5.15 to trade at $1364.75 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.01% to 192.525, while USD/LKR fell 0.04% to 146.025.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 95.36.
