Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Motors, Services and Investment Trust sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.88%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Madulsima Plantations PLC (CM:MADU), which rose 22.39% or 1.50 points to trade at 8.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Finance Company PLC (CM:TFC) added 22.06% or 1.50 points to end at 8.30 and Colonial Motors PLC (CM:COLO) was up 17.02% or 14.40 points to 99.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chilaw Finance PLC (CM:CHIL), which fell 12.84% or 2.80 points to trade at 19.00 at the close. Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) declined 10.00% or 0.100 points to end at 0.900 and Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) was down 7.41% or 100.00 points to 1250.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 159 to 40 and 31 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.60% or 0.27 to $45.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.50% or 0.23 to hit $46.63 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.28% or 3.75 to trade at $1358.35 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.76% to 188.720, while USD/LKR rose 0.06% to 145.910.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 96.19.
