Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Land & Property, Beverages & Tobacco and Trading sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.76% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH), which rose 22.44% or 66.90 points to trade at 365.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Hikkaduwa Beach Resort Ltd (CM:CITH) added 20.00% or 3.00 points to end at 18.00 and East West Properties PLC (CM:EAST) was up 19.35% or 3.00 points to 18.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nation Lanka Finance PLC (CM:CSF), which fell 7.69% or 0.10 points to trade at 1.20 at the close. Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) declined 7.14% or 0.10 points to end at 1.30 and Trans Asia Hotels PLC (CM:TRAN) was down 5.21% or 4.40 points to 80.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 164 to 30 and 29 ended unchanged.
Shares in East West Properties PLC (CM:EAST) rose to 3-years highs; rising 19.35% or 3.00 to 18.50.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 2.10% or 0.87 to $40.63 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 1.80% or 0.79 to hit $43.05 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.43% or 5.30 to trade at $1231.80 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.07% to 206.760, while USD/LKR rose 0.11% to 146.250.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 94.80.
