Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Financials & Insurance, Power & Energy and Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.60%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were AIA Insurance Lanka PLC (CM:AVIV), which rose 80.92% or 425.00 points to trade at 950.20 at the close. Meanwhile, SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) added 25.00% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.5000 and Kelsey Developments PLC (CM:KDL) was up 18.48% or 5.60 points to 35.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Royal Palms Beach Hotels PLC (CM:RPBH), which fell 7.30% or 1.30 points to trade at 16.50 at the close. Trade Finance & Investments PLC (CM:TFIL) declined 6.25% or 4.00 points to end at 60.00 and Colombo City Holdings PLC (CM:PHAR) was down 6.24% or 47.60 points to 715.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 91 to 65 and 64 ended unchanged.
Shares in AIA Insurance Lanka PLC (CM:AVIV) rose to all time highs; gaining 80.92% or 425.00 to 950.20. Shares in SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) rose to 5-year lows; up 25.00% or 0.1000 to 0.5000.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 2.19% or 1.53 to $71.33 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.92% or 1.50 to hit $79.65 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.60% or 7.20 to trade at $1199.50 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.25% to 207.565, while USD/LKR rose 0.21% to 161.940.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.48% at 95.53.
