Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Information Technology, Construction & Engineering and Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Ceylon Printers PLC (CM:CPRT), which rose 16.73% or 9.20 points to trade at 64.20 at the close. Meanwhile, SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) added 16.67% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.7000 and Royal Palms Beach Hotels PLC (CM:RPBH) was up 15.22% or 3.50 points to 26.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND), which fell 24.99% or 415.20 points to trade at 1246.00 at the close. Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL) declined 24.59% or 565.10 points to end at 1733.10 and Lanka Ceramic PLC (CM:CERA) was down 11.82% or 14.60 points to 108.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 115 to 58 and 52 ended unchanged.
Shares in Serendib Land PLC (CM:SLND) fell to 52-week lows; losing 24.99% or 415.20 to 1246.00.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.77% or 0.39 to $51.21 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.78% or 0.42 to hit $54.06 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.16% or 1.85 to trade at $1187.35 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.05% to 182.075, while USD/LKR rose 0.18% to 149.870.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 102.38.
