Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Power & Energy, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Land & Property sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were PC Pharma PLC (CM:PCPH), which rose 100.00% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.2000 at the close. Meanwhile, East West Properties PLC (CM:EAST) added 43.04% or 6.80 points to end at 22.60 and Office Equipment PLC (CM:OFEQ) was up 24.91% or 13.50 points to 67.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Swadeshi Industrial Works PLC (CM:SWAD), which fell 18.05% or 2312.50 points to trade at 10500.00 at the close. Standard Capital PLC (CM:SING) declined 8.41% or 4.60 points to end at 50.10 and Nation Lanka Finance PLC (CM:CSF) was down 8.33% or 0.100 points to 1.100.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 127 to 62 and 42 ended unchanged.
Shares in East West Properties PLC (CM:EAST) rose to 5-year highs; rising 43.04% or 6.80 to 22.60. Shares in Standard Capital PLC (CM:SING) fell to 3-years lows; down 8.41% or 4.60 to 50.10.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.03% or 0.02 to $61.13 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.19% or 0.12 to hit $64.22 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.11% or 1.50 to trade at $1326.10 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.03% to 215.705, while USD/LKR rose 0.09% to 155.510.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 89.75.
