Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Construction & Engineering and Manufacturing sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Amana Takaful Life Ltd (CM:ANTK), which rose 12.50% or 0.20 points to trade at 1.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Indo Malay PLC (CM:INDO) added 11.85% or 169.40 points to end at 1599.00 and Laxapana Batteries PLC (CM:LITE) was up 10.43% or 1.20 points to 12.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chilaw Finance PLC (CM:CHIL), which fell 11.74% or 2.70 points to trade at 20.30 at the close. Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO) declined 8.16% or 83.00 points to end at 934.00 and F L C Holdings PLC (CM:FREE) was down 7.69% or 0.100 points to 1.200.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 99 to 72 and 63 ended unchanged.
Shares in Amana Takaful Life Ltd (CM:ANTK) rose to all time highs; gaining 12.50% or 0.20 to 1.80. Shares in Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO) fell to 52-week lows; losing 8.16% or 83.00 to 934.00. Shares in Laxapana Batteries PLC (CM:LITE) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 10.43% or 1.20 to 12.70.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.04% or 0.47 to $45.81 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.92% or 0.43 to hit $47.26 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.42% or 5.55 to trade at $1336.95 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.07% to 189.815, while USD/LKR fell 0.43% to 145.545.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 95.16.
