Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Plantations and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 25.00% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.5000 at the close. Meanwhile, Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS) added 20.00% or 0.100 points to end at 0.600 and Beruwala Resorts PLC (CM:BERU) was up 16.67% or 0.100 points to 0.700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR), which fell 21.23% or 296.40 points to trade at 1100.00 at the close. Serendib Hotels PLC (CM:SHOT) declined 14.11% or 2.30 points to end at 14.00 and Colonial Motors PLC (CM:COLO) was down 13.59% or 6.70 points to 42.60.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 103 to 59 and 41 ended unchanged.
Shares in Serendib Hotels PLC (CM:SHOT) fell to 5-year lows; falling 14.11% or 2.30 to 14.00.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.07% or 0.05 to $75.28 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.17% or 0.14 to hit $84.94 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1207.40 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.22% to 220.325, while USD/LKR rose 0.17% to 169.610.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 95.09.
