Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Palm Oil, Power & Energy and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Mercantile Shipping Company PLC (CM:MSL), which rose 17.65% or 15.00 points to trade at 100.00 at the close. Meanwhile, SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) added 16.67% or 0.1000 points to end at 0.7000 and Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS) was up 14.29% or 0.200 points to 1.600 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Paragon Ceylon PLC (CM:PARA), which fell 20.69% or 12.00 points to trade at 46.00 at the close. Huejay International Investments PLC (CM:HUEJ) declined 18.88% or 10.50 points to end at 45.10 and Kotagala Plantations PLC (CM:KOTA) was down 11.17% or 2.10 points to 16.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 114 to 62 and 48 ended unchanged.
Shares in Paragon Ceylon PLC (CM:PARA) fell to 5-year lows; down 20.69% or 12.00 to 46.00.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.35% or 0.17 to $48.16 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.38% or 0.19 to hit $49.52 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.13% or 14.90 to trade at $1335.50 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.85% to 194.515, while USD/LKR rose 0.57% to 146.405.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 95.92.
