Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Information Technology and Manufacturing sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML), which rose 12.89% or 2.90 points to trade at 25.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM) added 12.50% or 0.100 points to end at 0.900 and Eden Hotel Lanka PLC (CM:EDEN) was up 12.00% or 1.50 points to 14.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shalimar Estates (CM:SHAL), which fell 23.42% or 538.20 points to trade at 1760.00 at the close. Ceylon Tea Services PLC (CM:CTEA) declined 16.30% or 110.00 points to end at 565.00 and Arpico Finance Company PLC (CM:ARPI) was down 12.31% or 24.00 points to 171.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 86 to 64 and 58 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ceylon Tea Services PLC (CM:CTEA) fell to 3-years lows; losing 16.30% or 110.00 to 565.00.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.90% or 0.47 to $51.70 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.64% or 0.35 to hit $54.70 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.16% or 1.95 to trade at $1238.05 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.08% to 188.290, while USD/LKR rose 0.04% to 150.760.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 100.58.
