United Launch Alliance has received buyout bids from various interested parties, according to an article by The Wall Street Journal on Thursday.
The publication stated, citing people familiar with the matter, that United Launch, which previously dominated Pentagon rocket launches before Elon Musk's SpaceX, is being eyed by firms such as Jeff Bezos's space company Blue Origin, and private-equity giant Cerberus, which is led by billionaire Stephen Feinberg,
Furthermore, aviation and defense manufacturer Textron (NYSE:TXT) is also said to have expressed interest.
The WSJ could not confirm how much the potential suitors have bid for the company and said a deal may not materialize. In addition, its sources told them that valuing the company is difficult due to its historical performance and the fact it would be based on rockets, it is discontinuing.
United Launch Alliance is owned equally by Boeing (NYSE:BA) and Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT).
