Investing.com – Singapore stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Healthcare and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Singapore, the Singapore Straits Time declined 1.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Singapore Straits Time were Olam International Limited (SIN:OLAM), which rose 0.56% or 0.010 points to trade at 1.790 at the close. Meanwhile, Starhub Ltd (SIN:STAR) added 0.51% or 0.02 points to end at 3.97 and SIA Engineering Co Ltd (SIN:SIAE) was up 0.26% or 0.01 points to 3.88 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Singapore Exchange Ltd (SIN:SGXL), which fell 3.75% or 0.32 points to trade at 8.21 at the close. Golden Agri-Resources Ltd (SIN:GAGR) declined 2.70% or 0.010 points to end at 0.360 and Noble Group Limited (SIN:NOBG) was down 2.36% or 0.015 points to 0.620.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Singapore Stock Exchange by 362 to 105 and 29 ended unchanged.
Shares in Golden Agri-Resources Ltd (SIN:GAGR) fell to 5-year lows; down 2.70% or 0.010 to 0.360. Shares in Noble Group Limited (SIN:NOBG) fell to 5-year lows; falling 2.36% or 0.015 to 0.620.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.65% or 0.32 to $47.83 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.93% or 0.51 to hit $54.11 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.19% or 12.90 to trade at $1098.90 a troy ounce.
USD/SGD was down 0.23% to 1.3685, while EUR/SGD rose 0.64% to 1.5155.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.64% at 96.72.
