Investing.com – Singapore stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Singapore, the Singapore Straits Time rose 0.67%.
The best performers of the session on the Singapore Straits Time were Jardine Cycle & Carriage Ltd (SIN:JCYC), which rose 2.48% or 0.77 points to trade at 31.77 at the close. Meanwhile, Singapore Exchange Ltd (SIN:SGXL) added 1.88% or 0.15 points to end at 8.13 and Hongkong Land Holdings Limited (SIN:HKLD) was up 1.79% or 0.14 points to 7.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Singapore Airlines Ltd (SIN:SIAL), which fell 1.37% or 0.15 points to trade at 10.80 at the close. Thai Beverage Public Co Ltd (SIN:TBEV) declined 1.32% or 0.010 points to end at 0.745 and Olam International Limited (SIN:OLAM) was down 0.82% or 0.015 points to 1.825.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Singapore Stock Exchange by 262 to 185 and 35 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.81% or 0.42 to $53.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.97% or 0.57 to hit $59.18 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.23% or 2.70 to trade at $1161.90 a troy ounce.
USD/SGD was down 0.04% to 1.3491, while EUR/SGD rose 1.07% to 1.5057.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.76% at 95.94.
