Investing.com - U.S. stocks were up after the closing bell on Friday.
At the close of U.S. trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.21%, the S&P 500 index gained 1.51%, while the Nasdaq 100 index climbed 2.55%.
Earlier in the day, preliminary official data showed that Gross domestic product in the U.S. rose less-than-expected to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.0% in the last quarter from 1.3% in the preceding quarter.
Analysts had expected U.S. gross domestic product to rise 1.1% in the last quarter.
Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, European stock markets closed lower. France’s CAC 40 was down 1.01%; Germany’s DAX shed 0.84%; Britain’s FTSE 100 declined 0.02%; and the EURO STOXX 50 fell 1.18%.
