WASHINGTON, April 13 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama on Tuesday said he had communicated to China's President Hu Jintao that the Chinese currency needed to be market oriented, but there was no timetable for any action.
Obama, at a news conference at the end of the nuclear security summit that brought together world leaders, said China has an interest in econonic rebalancing.
"I think China rightly sees the issue of currency as a sovereign issue. I think they are resistant to international pressure when it comes to them making decisions about their currency policy and monetary policy," Obama said. (Reporting by Tabassum Zakaria and Caren Bohan; Editing by David Storey)
