WASHINGTON, Sept 21 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama is "enormously pleased" with Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and economic adviser Larry Summers, the White House said on Tuesday, dismissing speculation their jobs could be on the line.

"The president is enormously pleased with the efforts of each of them in what have been very trying times," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters.

There has been a lot of speculation about the future of Geithner and Summers given voter dissatisfaction with sluggish economic growth and a stubbornly high unemployment rate.

Personnel changes in the Obama administration are widely expected after the Nov. 2 congressional elections.

Gibbs said, however, it was not his place to comment on individuals who "decide again that they are going to go back to what they were doing" before they joined the administration.
