Investing.com – Poland stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Media and Energy sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 lost 0.46% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN), which rose 3.42% or 2.25 points to trade at 67.95 at the close. Meanwhile, Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) added 2.68% or 1.36 points to end at 52.15 and Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN) was up 1.96% or 0.10 points to 5.19 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP), which fell 5.55% or 4.59 points to trade at 78.09 at the close. Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP) declined 4.07% or 1.85 points to end at 43.65 and Bank Polska Kasa Opieki SA (WA:PEO) was down 3.04% or 4.69 points to 149.78.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 254 to 236 and 168 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 2.93% or 1.31 to $45.97 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 3.47% or 1.58 to hit $47.10 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.81% or 10.20 to trade at $1275.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.20% to 4.4254, while USD/PLN fell 0.40% to 3.8697.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.53% at 93.72.
