Investing.com – Poland stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Chemicals and Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 gained 2.18%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP), which rose 12.87% or 4.31 points to trade at 37.80 at the close. Meanwhile, KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) added 9.34% or 6.66 points to end at 77.97 and Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) was up 8.39% or 6.50 points to 84.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN), which fell 2.64% or 2.05 points to trade at 75.50 at the close. Energa SA (WA:ENGP) declined 1.46% or 0.29 points to end at 19.55 and Eurocash SA (WA:EUR) was down 0.97% or 0.40 points to 41.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 350 to 195 and 112 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 9.02% or 3.48 to $42.08 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 8.10% or 3.50 to hit $46.63 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.14% or 1.60 to trade at $1123.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.15% to 4.2354, while USD/PLN rose 0.93% to 3.7750.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.66% at 95.93.
