Investing.com – Poland stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 2.08%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Play Communications SA (WA:PLY), which rose 7.74% or 1.51 points to trade at 21.01 at the close. Meanwhile, Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) added 4.72% or 5.00 points to end at 111.00 and Powszechna Kasa Oszczednosci Bank Polski SA (WA:PKO) was up 4.14% or 1.59 points to 40.01 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN), which fell 2.37% or 0.16 points to trade at 6.58 at the close. Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP) declined 1.45% or 0.68 points to end at 46.32 and Enea SA (WA:ENAE) was down 1.16% or 0.12 points to 10.23.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 235 to 234 and 168 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.74% or 0.38 to $52.03 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.96% or 0.58 to hit $60.78 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.29% or 3.65 to trade at $1250.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.24% to 4.2913, while USD/PLN fell 0.64% to 3.7768.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 97.018.
