Investing.com – Poland stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 1.84%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW), which rose 4.36% or 12.90 points to trade at 309.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Enea SA (WA:ENAE) added 3.80% or 0.53 points to end at 14.47 and Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW) was up 3.50% or 2.96 points to 87.42 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Energa SA (WA:ENGP), which fell 1.97% or 0.38 points to trade at 18.95 at the close. Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER) declined 1.85% or 0.81 points to end at 42.99 and Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP) was down 1.37% or 0.69 points to 49.80.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 294 to 254 and 105 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 3.04% or 1.34 to $45.49 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 2.01% or 0.95 to hit $48.53 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.75% or 8.30 to trade at $1110.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.03% to 4.2132, while USD/PLN fell 0.57% to 3.7385.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 95.56.
