Investing.com – Poland stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Energy, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 0.90%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR), which rose 6.22% or 4.25 points to trade at 72.55 at the close. Meanwhile, PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WA:PGE) added 6.14% or 0.62 points to end at 10.71 and KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) was up 4.47% or 4.17 points to 97.44 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP), which fell 3.40% or 1.80 points to trade at 51.15 at the close. Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) declined 1.51% or 1.31 points to end at 85.19 and Bank Polska Kasa Opieki SA (WA:PEO) was down 0.45% or 0.53 points to 116.38.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 222 to 220 and 171 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.13% or 0.09 to $71.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.12% or 0.09 to hit $77.12 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.48% or 6.30 to trade at $1319.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.47% to 4.2431, while USD/PLN fell 0.93% to 3.5640.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 92.68.
