Investing.com – Poland stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Energy and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP), which rose 4.11% or 2.11 points to trade at 53.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) added 3.54% or 0.12 points to end at 3.51 and Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) was up 2.22% or 1.85 points to 85.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR), which fell 3.56% or 3.16 points to trade at 85.60 at the close. Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) declined 2.42% or 0.79 points to end at 31.90 and Bank Handlowy w Warszawie SA (WA:BHW) was down 2.06% or 1.85 points to 88.14.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 332 to 217 and 106 ended unchanged.
Shares in Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.22% or 1.85 to 85.25.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.41% or 0.17 to $41.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.35% or 0.17 to hit $46.99 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.92% or 21.60 to trade at $1149.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.21% to 4.1876, while USD/PLN fell 0.45% to 3.7401.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.43% at 96.01.
