Investing.com – Philippines stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining & Oil, Holding Firms and Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Philippines, the PSEi Composite gained 0.95%.
The best performers of the session on the PSEi Composite were Semirara Mining Corp (PS:SCC), which rose 4.92% or 1.55 points to trade at 33.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Globe Telecom Inc (PS:GLO) added 3.39% or 59.00 points to end at 1799.00 and Manila Electric Co (PS:MER) was up 3.35% or 12.00 points to 370.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BDO Unibank Inc (PS:BDO), which fell 1.45% or 1.90 points to trade at 129.00 at the close. Energy Development Corp (PS:EDC) declined 1.16% or 0.060 points to end at 5.100 and Universal Robina Corp (PS:URC) was down 0.76% or 1.00 points to 131.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Philippines Stock Exchange by 105 to 92 and 42 ended unchanged.
Shares in Manila Electric Co (PS:MER) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 3.35% or 12.00 to 370.00.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.14% or 1.70 to $1223.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.09% or 0.06 to hit $67.95 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.05 to trade at $73.01 a barrel.
CNY/PHP was down 0.42% to 7.8403, while USD/PHP fell 0.05% to 53.406.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 94.44.
