Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Insurance and Retail sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 2.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr), which rose 9.09% or 0.12 points to trade at 1.44 at the close. Meanwhile, Euro Reliance (AT:EREr) added 7.58% or 0.10 points to end at 1.42 and Folli Follie (AT:HDFr) was up 6.67% or 1.20 points to 19.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr), which fell 19.44% or 0.007 points to trade at 0.029 at the close. Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) declined 12.50% or 0.003 points to end at 0.021 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) was down 7.67% or 0.064 points to 0.770.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 62 to 36 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bank Of Piraeus (AT:BOPr) fell to all time lows; losing 19.44% or 0.007 to 0.029.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.06% or 0.60 to $1068.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.37% or 0.15 to hit $40.82 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.65% or 0.28 to trade at $43.85 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.02% to 1.0639, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.6996.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 99.81.
