Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Life Insurance/Assurance and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.92%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LONDON:FRES), which rose 4.80% or 29.00 points to trade at 633.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Glencore PLC (LONDON:GLEN) added 4.37% or 3.9800 points to end at 95.0000 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LONDON:RRS) was up 4.22% or 166.00 points to 4098.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Experian PLC (LONDON:EXPN), which fell 3.81% or 41.00 points to trade at 1034.00 at the close. Wolseley PLC (LONDON:WOS) declined 2.78% or 105.00 points to end at 3677.00 and Persimmon PLC (LONDON:PSN) was down 1.67% or 34.00 points to 2003.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1160 to 925 and 468 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 2.09% or 23.30 to $1137.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.05% or 0.47 to hit $44.27 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.18% or 0.56 to trade at $47.12 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.51% to 1.5209, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.7400.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.59% at 95.78.
