Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Footwear & Textile, Stores & Supplies and Motors sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.19% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Industrial Asphalts (Ceylon) PLC (CM:ASPH), which rose 23.80% or 73.80 points to trade at 383.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Radiant Gems International PLC (CM:RGEM) added 12.90% or 4.00 points to end at 35.00 and Lanka Ventures PLC (CM:LVEN) was up 12.63% or 4.70 points to 41.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI), which fell 24.43% or 329.80 points to trade at 1020.00 at the close. Ceylon Leather Products PLC (CM:CLPL) declined 16.56% or 13.00 points to end at 65.50 and Hapugastenne Plantations PLC (CM:HAPU) was down 12.50% or 2.60 points to 18.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 99 to 77 and 51 ended unchanged.
Shares in Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI) fell to 52-week lows; falling 24.43% or 329.80 to 1020.00. Shares in Hapugastenne Plantations PLC (CM:HAPU) fell to 5-year lows; falling 12.50% or 2.60 to 18.20.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.61% or 0.47 to $29.91 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 2.23% or 0.74 to hit $34.13 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 2.13% or 26.40 to trade at $1213.00 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.05% to 208.565, while USD/LKR rose 0.24% to 144.425.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.27% at 96.48.
