PARIS, Feb 18 (Reuters) - G20 countries may offer China an opt-out from using its current account as a measurement of global economic imbalances, using its trade balance instead, two sources who attended a preparatory meeting said on Friday.
"The proposal could open the way for a compromise depending on how the Chinese finance minister reacts to the proposed opt-out," one G20 source said.
However, a European G20 source said European Union states hoped a compromise could be reached on a full set of indicators to assess economic imbalances without any opt-outs.
