TOKYO, Dec 21 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average rose 0.6 percent on Tuesday as investors hunted for bargains in recent decliners, but volume was expected to stay low due to an absence of foreign participants before the Christmas holidays.
The benchmark Nikkei gained 62.94 points to 10,279.35, while the broader Topix index rose 0.4 percent to 902.21.
The Nikkei will likely trade between 10,150 and 10,300, analysts said, after shedding 0.9 percent to 10,216 on Monday. (Reporting by Ayai Tomisawa; Editing by Chris Gallagher)
