TOKYO, Sept 15 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average jumped 1.7 percent on Wednesday, reversing earlier losses as the yen sank on talk of intervention by the authorities.
The benchmark Nikkei rose 157.01 points to 9,456.32 after going as low as 9,199.08, hit when the yen surged earlier to a fresh 15-year high against the dollar. The the broader Topix gained 1.3 percent to 845.89.
The dollar traded at 83.98 yen, rising steeply from a 15-year low of 82.87 yen struck on trading platform EBS. (Reporting by Shinichi Saoshiro; Editing by Edmund Klamann)
