TOKYO, March 8 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei benchmark edged higher on Tuesday as investors covered their short positions after selling heavily the previous day, but gains may be limited as uncertainty over the Middle East persists, analysts said.
The benchmark Nikkei rose 0.4 percent, or 38.58 points, to 10,543.60. The broader Topix index gained 0.4 percent to 945.18. (Reporting by Ayai Tomisawa)
