TOKYO, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average slipped on Tuesday, losing steam after hitting a five-month high, but a weaker yen supported exporter shares and encouraged buying by foreign investors.
The Nikkei closed down 0.3 percent or 30.41 points at 9,797.10 after reaching a five-month high of 9,908.30 in the morning.
The broader Topix fell 0.5 percent to 847.77. (Reporting by Chikafumi Hodo; Editing by Chris Gallagher)
