TOKYO, Dec 29 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei average edged lower on Wednesday pressured by a firmer yen, but Japanese shares are expected to be supported by bargain-hunting as underlying sentiment towards Tokyo stocks remains strong.
The benchmark Nikkei fell 0.1 percent or 10.40 points to 10,282.23.
The broader Topix index dipped 0.1 percent to 902.34. (Reporting by Chikafumi Hodo; Editing by Chris Gallagher)
