TOKYO, Sept 28 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei averaged slipped 0.8 percent on Tuesday as exporters lost ground in the wake of weaker U.S. stocks.
Takefuji Corp was untraded and overwhelmed with sell orders after sources said the struggling consumer lender plans to file for bankruptcy on Tuesday with $5.2 billion in debts. But most other top consumer lenders gained after sharp falls on Monday when reports of Takefuji's bankruptcy emerged.
The benchmark Nikkei shed 68.93 points to 9,534.21, while the broader Topix lost 0.6 percent to 844.30.
