Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.67% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE), which rose 4.85% or 41.20 points to trade at 892.76 at the close. Meanwhile, Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) added 3.55% or 0.06 points to end at 1.74 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was up 1.47% or 0.10 points to 6.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which fell 3.53% or 0.15 points to trade at 4.10 at the close. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) declined 3.15% or 5.00 points to end at 150.58 and Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) was down 2.86% or 0.17 points to 5.77.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 37 to 20 and 36 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.42% or 0.25 to $59.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $63.17 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.50 to trade at $1172.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.04% to 222.930, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 199.025.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.41% at 95.76.
