Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 fell 0.44%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which rose 5.00% or 2.00 points to trade at 40.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 3.00% or 1.50 points to end at 51.50 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was up 2.86% or 0.020 points to 0.700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which fell 4.79% or 0.95 points to trade at 18.90 at the close. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) declined 4.11% or 0.030 points to end at 0.700 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was down 3.52% or 0.050 points to 1.360.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos by 54 to 33 and 16 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.79% or 0.95 to 18.90. Shares in Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) rose to all time highs; up 3.00% or 1.50 to 51.50.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.13% or 0.82 to $73.58 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $77.45 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.37% or 4.60 to trade at $1251.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.36% to 417.320, while USD/NGN rose 0.14% to 360.000.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 94.91.
