Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Banking and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 1.18%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which rose 5.00% or 7.67 points to trade at 161.17 at the close. Meanwhile, Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) added 2.44% or 0.10 points to end at 4.20 and Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB) was up 2.08% or 0.40 points to 19.61 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE), which fell 4.84% or 2.20 points to trade at 45.50 at the close. Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) declined 2.77% or 0.16 points to end at 5.61 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was down 1.25% or 0.03 points to 2.35.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 31 to 23 and 43 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.91% or 1.14 to $58.49 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 2.02% or 1.27 to hit $61.98 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.33% or 3.90 to trade at $1177.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.73% to 221.300, while USD/NGN rose 0.01% to 199.050.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 95.30.
