Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 3.69% to hit a new 3-years high.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 9.95% or 0.210 points to trade at 2.320 at the close. Meanwhile, Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) added 9.84% or 0.060 points to end at 0.670 and Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) was up 8.96% or 0.060 points to 0.730 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES), which fell 1.76% or 1.80 points to trade at 102.00 at the close. Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) declined 0.68% or 0.020 points to end at 2.920 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was down 0.64% or 0.14 points to 21.66.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 70 to 9 and 21 ended unchanged.
Shares in Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) rose to 52-week highs; up 9.95% or 0.210 to 2.320. Shares in Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.84% or 0.060 to 0.670.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.54% or 0.34 to $63.30 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.15% or 0.10 to hit $68.92 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.33% or 4.40 to trade at $1318.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.65% to 432.810, while USD/NGN fell 0.14% to 359.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 92.05.
